May 8, 2023 0 Comment

The award-winning “B-Clear” data portal of the City of Bloomington has been updated, which the city administration is excited to announce. The new version of the data portal has enhanced features for viewing and analyzing data sets, as well as creating visualizations of city data with the help of both in-built visualization tools and external data analysis and visualization software.

Mayor John Hamilton stated that this upgrade is the city’s next step towards their data transparency efforts, and it will offer an improved user experience, better datasets, and significantly advanced visualization tools. Currently, the unified data portal hosts the city’s Open Finance portal, Covid Dashboard, and Climate Action Plan Dashboard. Additionally, residents can create their own visualizations using the self-serve visualization feature and share them with others.

The updated portal also includes new data sets, which comprises City Geographic Information System (GIS) data available on the portal in both static maps suitable for viewing, downloading, and printing, and as GIS files in CSV, KML, and Shapefile format that can be utilized in GIS software like Google Earth, ArcGIS, and QGIS.
